On Thursday (8 August), a selected team from the Soviet Union met the Nada team from Yugoslavia and defeated them, 32 points to seven. The Soviet team included players from Leningrad, Kiev, the Moscow Aviation Institute and the Air Force Military Academy. It was their first game together.
Top scorer for the Soviets was Nikolai Roumyantsev, who notched up 24 of his team;s points. During the week-long tournament he scored a total of 41 points.
The other points scorers in the match for the Soviets were Boiko and Zherebko.
