THE PAGODA, THE SCENE OF CONTINUED BUDDHIST AGITATION AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT OF PRIME MINISTER KY, AND THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL BLOODY CLASHES BETWEEN BUDDHIST YOUTHS AND RIOT POLICE.

AS A RESULT OF THE BARRICADES, NO ONE WAS ALLOWED INTO THE PAGODA AND THOSE INSIDE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE. WHEN THIS FILM WAS SHOT ON TUESDAY, THERE WERE MORE THAN 2,000 PEOPLE INSIDE, INCLUDING BUDDHIST MONKS, NUNS, MOTHERS WITH CHILDREN, AND BOY SCOUTS.

SCORES OF SOUTH VIETNAMESE PARATROOPERS AND POLICE MANNING THE BARRICADES ASSISTED BUDDHIST SYMPATHISERS FROM AROUND THE CITY IN HANDING OVER GIFTS SUPPLIES AND FOOD, FOR THE MONKS AND NUNS. THE OTHERS INSIDE WERE ALLOWED TO GO HOME AFTER A WARNING NOT TO CREATE TROUBLE.

LATER, SLOGAN-SHOUTING UNIVERSITY STUDENTS MARCHED THROUGH THE CENTRE OF SAIGON IN AN ANTI-GOVERNMENT DEMONSTRATION CALLING THROUGH THE CENTRE OF SAIGON IN AN ANTI - GOVERNMENT DEMONSTRATION CALLING FOR AN END TO CIVIL WAR IN VIETNAM. THEY RIPPED DOWN GOVERNMENT BANNERS TIED ACROSS THE STREETS AS THEY MOVED THROUGH THE CITY.

AT THE STUDENT'S UNION HEADQUARTERS, RECENTLY IN THE HANDS OF PRO-GOVERNMENT STUDENT LEADERS, THEY RIPPED DOWN BANNERS ACROSS THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING AND REPLACED THEM WITH THEIR OWN. DOCUMENTS WERE TORN UP AND MADE INTO A BONFIRE OUTSIDE.
