Malmo, went into the lead after eight minutes when Malmberg headed strongly into the net. Although Zurich pressed hard, the score at half time was still 1-0. Zurich continued to attack in the second half and in the 72nd minute katic headed in after a movement down the left wing. Although there was no further score, the one goal scored away from home was enough to take Zurich through to the next round.
Just under eleven-thousand people watched the match.

And in the seventy-second minute a long cross from the left wing looped over the defence and allowed the Zurich player, Katic, to head powerfully into the net. The score was now one all.
This was the final score. Although the result was a draw, it was enough to take Zurich through to next round. Their one goal counted double because it was scored away from home.
An exciting match was watched by just under eleven thousand people. Although Malmo were the eventual losers, they still gave a fine performance in front of their home crowd.
