    INTERIOR MINISTER PAOLO TAVIANI TOLD THE SENATE LAST NIGHT THAT MAFIA CRIMES WERE STEADILY DIMINISHING IN SICILY BECAUSE OF FIRM GOVERNMENT ACTION.
