Background: To London from Oslo - the seasonal gift of a gigantic Christmas tree. Decorated with coloured lights and put up in Trafalgar Square, it was presented by the Norwegian Ambassador to the Mayor of Westminster, Dec 16, during a brief open-air ceremony.

After the presentation the lights went on and members of the Wimbledon Boys School choir sang carols (SOF) while Londoners, young and old, admired the stately 60ft spruce, topped by a large white star. A Norwegian Christmas tree has been sent to London each year since 1946.
