    Background: A group of twelve members of the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC) - including three doctors - left today (Friday) from Switzerland's Basel airport for New Delhi, They were flying out to reinforce Red Cross groups already in India and Pakistan as a result of December 13th announcement that India, Pakistan and Bangla Desh representatives had agreed to accept Red Cross help for wounded and prisoners in the war-torn area. All parties had agreed to abide by the Geneva Conveniens under which the International Red Cross operates.

    SYNOPSIS: From Switzerland's Basel airport on Friday, a group of twelve International Red Cross officials and doctors left for New Delhi. They are to reinforce Red Cross groups already in India and Pakistan as a result of the December thirteenth announcement that India, Pakistan and Bangla Desh representatives had agreed to accept Red Cross help for the wounded and prisoners of the war-torn areas. (PAUSE) The aircraft was also carrying considerable amounts of medical supplies. (PAUSE) The Red Cross had announced earlier that all parties had agreed to abide by the Geneva Conventions on the treatment of wounded, prisoners-of-war and, interned civilians, and on the forbidding of summary executions, reprisals and collective punishments.
