Background: Another chapter in the prolonged political and military crisis in Argentina has ended. Air Force Brigadier General Antonio Cayo Alsina reportedly returned to Buenos Aires Wednesday night (12 December)... under arrest.

Cayo Alsina started the revolt Tuesday (11 December) after Argentine President Jose Maria Guido fired him as Air Force Commander in Chief. He flew to Cordoba...300 miles away...where he tried to set up revolutionary headquarters. Cordoba is the site of non-commissioned officers, and air cadets' schools.

The general has hoped his rebellion to snow ball...but is fizzled. He gave up after loyal air force jet fighters strafed and bombed the runways of the base.

Earlier in the week...Guido held a series of talks with the heads of the armed forces and key cabinet ministers. These included War Secretary Benjamin Rattenbach; Air Force Secretary Brig. Gen. Carlos Pereira; brigadier Carlos Armanini, the new A.F. Commander in Chief; National Defense Minister Jose Manuel Astigueta and other officials.
