Background: Recent film from Paris shows the Palace of Justice, by the Seine, where the Algiers insurgents will be tried towards the end of this month. Interior views are of the "Chambre Civile", the Civil Court, actual scene of the forthcoming trial.
Leading figures of the insurrection, which began on Apr 22 and collapsed three days later, are now at the Sante Prison in Paris. They are the ex-Generals Challe, Zeller, Nicot, Gouraud, Bigot and Petit; ex-Colonel Lacheroy, head of psychological warfare; six Majors, including the commander of the 1st paratroop regiment of the Foreign Legion, Denoix de Saint-Marc; one Captain; and four civilians.
A tribunal of military and civil judges will hear the charges brought by M. Besson, for the prosecution. The trial is expected to begin on May 29.
