Background: The British army has shown interest in a new light weight bullet proof vest currently being tested near London. The vest, weighing about 12 pounds, is made by Rolls Royce Composites. The army with Belfast and the recent number of deaths from snipers in mind, is informed of progress. The makers have tested its ability to withstand bullets from heavy revolvers, shotguns and sub-machine guns....and its stood every test.
SYNOPSIS: A firm near London, Rolls Royce Composites, has developed a new light wight bullet proof vest which it claims can withstand any bullet up to that of a high velocity rifle. The firm is the only one of its kind in Britain. The vest has been tried against heavy hand revolvers, shotguns and sub-machine guns...and passed each time.
The British army is interested in the new vest, primarily for its troops in Belfast which have been under increasing fire from snipers in recent weeks. But at present they re retaining the vests they have at present which are heavier.
The new vest weighs only 12 pounds and still allows a soldier in full kit to move freely.
