Background: Prospects for a Middle East settlement were under review in London today (Tuesday) when Mr. Hafez Ismail, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat's National Security Adviser, held talks with British Prime Minister Edward Heath and Foreign Secretary Sir Alec Douglas-Home.
Today's talks come immediately before Mr. Ismail's trip to Washington for similar discussions with President Nixon's administration. Both trips are part of an intensive campaign by Cairo to take a new diplomatic initiative in the dispute with Israel.
It has been reported that Mr. Ismail's London discussions took the form of an exchange of views on the Middle East situation. No specific proposals were discussed.
