    LOCATION BACKGROUND MATERIAL: Two Gemini mission simulators have been manufactured. One is located at Cape Kennedy and the other is at the Manned spacecraft centre. Every phase of the Gemini mission concept can be duplicated for training of astronauts and the ground control personnel. Each simulator is equipped identically to that of a Gemini spacecraft. Those astronauts named to take part in the Gemini programme have received intensive training in these simulators.

    BACKGROUND INFORMATION: To make sure that the elaborate electrical circuitry in the spacecraft will not interfere with communications or set up spurious radiation, the spacecraft is operated as it would be used under actual launch conditions. All primary and redundant electrical systems are tested and monitored, such as coolant pumps, transmitters, suit and cabin environmental controls and guidance systems are put into operation at this location.

    BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The White Room at launch complex 19 is located at the top of the gentry. It is an enclosed area where the spacecraft is prepared for launching. It is controlled environment - dust free, dehumidified, and at a constant temperature. Here voltage standing wave ratio test and further communications and pre meeting checkouts.

    BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Gemini recovery system is located in the Rendezvous and Recovery section of the Gemini spacecraft. A single 88 ft. chute is deployed after atmospheric reentry. It is designed for use over water.
