Background: For their centenary year the Halle Orchestra are touring Ireland with Our Lady's Choral Society of Dublin. Tonight in Mulligan Cathedral they performed the "Drama of Gerontius", and this is the first time that the Catholic church allowed an orchestra to perform in their church. It was also the first time that the Oratorio had been presented in a cathedral, since June 1903.
