TRANSCRIPT: AMUNDSON: Giant starter Pete Falcone gave up one run in a balk in the first inning - his false motion towards third allowed Don Kessinger to score. Kessinger had let off the game with a double. Still in the first inning and two more runs came across on Manny Trio bases-loaded single. It followed a triple by Rick Munday, and walks to Gerry Morreros and Andy Fergin. When Adams got the key hit when the Giants took the lead in the sixth, this hit tied the score at three-three. Until the sixth inning, Steve Stoller of Cubs had sailed along with a one-hitter. Darryl Knowles came on as a relief and Willy Martinez greeted him with a hit that put the Giants in front four to three. The Giants in front four to three. The Giants got a walk and four straight singles in that inning. The Cubs tied the score then at the sixth and then went back and fought on the eighth. One of their runs scored in this long and curious bases-loaded single by George Midderwald. Giants outfielders, Glad Adams and Garry Thomason looked at each other while the ball fell between them, and Jose Carnel crossed the plate. This is Charles Amundson reporting.
