Background: The Ivory Coast National Soccer team beat Ghana at the Kumasi Sports Stadium in Accra on Sunday (September 9th) in the first leg of the final elimination series of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Ghanaian team, the Black Stars, went down three goals to nil, and only occasionally looked like scoring against Ivory Coast. The Ghanaians also suffered mishaps behind the scenes. Ghanaian officials accidentally left the names of three star players -- Osei Kofi, John Botwe and Kwasi Owusu -- form the list of nineteen players registered for the match.
Ivory Coast scored its first two goals in the first half, and the third in the final stages of the game.
The Black Stars meet Ivory Coast in the second leg of the elimination series at Abidjan, the Ivory Coast capital, on September the 23rd.
The final of the ninth Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Cairo.
