Background: A move away from previously rigid confines in fur fashions was evident at a showing of internationally-made furs at Frankfurt in West Germany on Wednesday (April 25), with a trend towards freer shapes, colours and styles. Coats were both fitted and free-flowing, with coats of light skin for summer, and heavier furs -- with mink, for and otter very much in evidence -- for winter and evenings.
Hems were generally either at knee- or floor-length, with some manufacturers catering for trendier younger fur wearers -- both male and female. Prices were generally down, due to manufacturing economies, or at least level with previous levels.
SYNOPSIS: International fur manufacturers showed their new collections in Frankfurt, West Germany, on Wednesday -- with obvious moves away from previously rigid fur fashion dictates. Even artificial colours were used with freer styles for younger fur wearers.
Silver foxes in brown and gold -- following the season's hem lengths, which are either at floor-level or just on the knee.
Furs for men and women -- this time, in otter. Manufacturers have also made production economies to peg prices this season in an effort to attract a wider market.
A brown and white fur cape....again, reflecting the trend towards freer styling. Some fashion reports, meanwhile, are even more definite about the new freedom -- "anything goes" this year, it's said.
Soviet furs....slightly more traditional, perhaps.
For these summer evenings, when it's too warm for full-length coats, short fur jackets are the answer.
And finally, a white fox fur coat and hat....
