Background: Mali President Moussa Traora on Thursday (21 June) began talks with leaders of The People's Republic of China on the second day of his week-long state visit.
Col. Traore's discussions were with Chinese Premier Chou En-lai, Foreign Minister Chi Peng-Fei and other Chinese government officials.
On Tuesday (19 June), President Traore made a brief stopover in the Yemen People's Democratic Republic (South Yemen) on his way to China.
He was greeted at Aden Airport by South Yemen President Ali Nasser Mohammed. The two heads of state talked for an hour before Col. traore resumed his journey to Peking.

After the welcoming ceremonies. President Traore was driven into Aden, where he talked for an hour with the South Yemen leader.
No details were released of what the two heads of state covered in their talks. President Traore resumed his journey, arriving in Peking on Wednesday.
