Background: The 22nd Pioneer Fun from Tottenham Corner to Brighton was held in clear sunshine yesterday. Over 100 motor bicycles contrived to being, splutter and rattle over the finishing line at Brighton.
When these machines first saw the light of day, the skid lid had not yet been invented in its modern glossy egg-shaped form. Fashin of the period dictated something a little more decorative, if less utilitarian.
The oldest Cycle in the run on 1897 Beeston, was ridden by R.G. Effemy of Hindheed, a regular competer in this event.
