Background: The Catalonians are well-known for their serious and sober character. Nobody would guess on seeing these two workers of a jewelry shop in Barcelona, as they go to their daily task, that they are the lucky winners in the football stakes together with other four friends; each of them have won 803.000.- pesetas if, as up till now, they are the only winners, or else half that amount if they have to divide the prize with anyone else.

They get confirmation of their luck by the press and are informed that the first prize will total 4.820.421.- pesetas. The Board of Sport Benevolent Mutual Stakes administers and decides the participation in the prizes of those who send correct solutions. The one who filled in the correct ticket shows it to his companion who okays it.

After their work they go to the Banco Iberico to deposit there the winning ticket. They all were associated and had agreed that each of them was to fill in an item of the ticket and if they hit right then they would equally share in the prize.

A friend offered them a million pesetas for the ticket when it was learned that they had rightly conjectured the fourteen results or victories of the fourteen football matches played the previous Sunday in Spain, but they rejected his offer and now prepare to celebrate their luck.
