Background: There was a general drop in prices and sales at the annual merino stud ram sales which began at the Sydney Show Ground to-day. The Auctioneers said the slowness and reluctance of buyers was apparently caused by the drop in wool prices, which meant that the average graizer's income would be up fifty per cent lower this year. However, when forty-two rams from the Haddon Rig stud were offered late this afternoon, they earned 23-thousand pounds in less than an hour.
Here briefly, is how the bidding went for the top ram to-day.
For thirty-six hundred guineas he was sold to the Gordon Brothers of "Guiseley" at Walgett.
