UAR President Nasser had invited the Emperor to make a five-day state visit. To mark the event the President conferred upon his guest a high Egyptian Order - the Insignia of the Order of the Nile.
Cairo reports indicated one of the topics of their discussions will be the question of the waters of the Nile and the Aswan Dam. Ethiopia is the source of life to Egypt through these waters.
The Emperor is on his way to the Soviet Union for talks with Russian leaders.
