Background: Continuing his triumphant stay in New Delhi, VIET MINH leader, Ho Chi Minh, went out on a sightseeing trip in February 6th when he became the first-ever visiting dignitary to climb the Qutab Tower.
Followed by a retinue of his hosts, the VIET MINH visitor marched up the 379 steps to reach the top of the 238 feet red sandstone tower which was built in 1208 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak.
Another item that caught his attention was the 1500 year-old iron pillar. This solid shaft - made of 99.97% pure iron - has withstood the weather for the last 1500 years.
The same day, Dr. Ho also attended a civic reception given by the pole of Delhi. After the children had performed a dance in his honour, an address of welcome was read and the VIET MIN guest was presented with a traditional Indian carpet.
The following day, Dr. Ho witnessed a mass physical recreation display given by the children of New Delhi. Among the items presented was a display of Lezim Drill - a type of exercise used by ancient warriors in India.
