Background: President Nixon's Security Adviser, Dr. Henry Kissinger, today (Wednesday) held a further round of talks with North Vietnamese Peace negotiators Le Duc Tho and Xuan Thuy. The meeting took place at the North Vietnamese headquarters at Gil sur Yvette, near Paris.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Kissinger had flown back to Paris, after spending the night in Brussels, where he held breakfast talks this morning with President Suharto of Indonesia. Indonesia is one of four countries - with Canada, Poland and Hungary - which have agreed, in principle, to contribute a force to oversee any ceasefire negotiated for Vietnam.

President Suharto is on a two-weak, five-nation tour of Europe. He has already visited Paris - before going to Brussels - and is also going to Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Following his meeting today with Dr. Kissinger, he was accompanied by Prince Albert of Liege - King Baudowin's brother - and attended an academic session at the Belgian Office of Foreign Trade.

First to arrive, Le Duc Tho, Hanoi's chief negotiator in the recent talks between the United States and North Vietnam. He was followed by Doctor Henry Kissinger, President Nixon's security adviser and personal representative at the special meetings.

For the second time in two days, the North Vietnamese and the Americans were meeting - giving rise to increased speculation on the possibility of an imminent ceasefire in Vietnam.

Doctor Kissinger has, in the past few weeks, been holding talks on South Vietnam with President Thieu, in Washington with President Nixon, and in France with delegates to both sides of the Peace Talks.

After three-and-a-half hours, Doctor Kissinger left - and was reported as looking "faintly satisfied."
Five minutes later, Le Duc Tho also departed - followed by members of his delegation, including Xuan Thuy, Hanoi's chief delegate to the Paris Peace talks.

Meanwhile, in Brussels, another chapter in the negotiations for peace in Vietnam was being played out. Early the same morning, Doctor Kissinger had flown to the Belgian capital to meet with Indonesia's President Suharto - currently on a tour of Europe.

President Suharto - here seen arriving with Prince Albert of Liege at the Foreign Trade Office - has been discussing the future of Vietnam in the event of a ceasefire agreement being reached. Indonesia is one of four countries - with Canada, Poland and Hungary - which have agreed, in principle, to contribute a force to oversee the proper implementation of the ceasefire when it is put into effect.

The Indonesian Head of State is on a two-week, five-nation tour of Europe. Prior to his arrival in Brussels, he visited Paris - having made brief stopovers in Bangkok and Teheran after leaving Jakarta. The rest of the itinerary includes Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Since coming to power six years ago, he has only previously visited Europe once - in 1971 - when he went to Holland and West Germany. The current tour is seen by observers as a bridge-building and goodwill trip - aimed primarily at strengthening economic, technical and cultural ties between Indonesia and Europe.
