Much of the business centre of the town was destroyed as the tornado devastated an area three miles long by nearly a quarter of a mile wide. When officials were able to complete the tool the following day, they found that three people had died, a hundred and fifty houses had been damaged and fifty families left completely homeless. Such was the force of the Tornado that office records from businesses in the town were found in Nashville -- over a hundred miles away.
