Background: For their new base in the Indian Ocean zone, the RAF have chosen one of the most primitive and undeveloped series of Islands in the world - The Maldives.
Their new Headquarters will be on the coral island of GAN, where the natives, hitherto, have lived on bananas, fish and breadfruit -and have never known a bar of soap.
The main trading currency for the RAF men and contractors is cigarettes. And the islanders don't care to to much else in life, but sit and bathe in the sun, smoke and gather their natural foods.
But there's to be an end to all that. When the RAF camp is properly struck - and starting from literally nothing, this will take another six weeks or so - the islanders will be moved to a neighbouring island, and women will be barred from GAN completely.
At present, a ship with supplies and building materials arrives in the lagoon every ten days - planes fly in everything else, food, main and etc.
The Maldives comprise a group of islands which stretch for 320 miles and their Prime Minister, Mr. Ibrahim-Ali-Didi arrived on GAN, during the shooting of this film, to finalise arrangements with representatives of the British Government.
