Background: Those pictures attain some significance in the light of events in Ifni.

Prince Moulay Nassan of Morocco has stated that he had asked Spain to understand to transfer ifni to Morocco as an immediate solution to the dispute over to enclave, which has been the means of fighting for a fortnight between Spanish troops and Moroccan irregulars.

In an interview Prince Nassan is reported to have said that if General Franco gave such an undertaking, he could justifiably appeal to dissident tribes on to have confidence in the ability of the King and the Government to settle their case through diplomatic channels.

He denied that the fighting had been started by the Moroccan Liberation Army. The attacks had been made by Moroccan nationalists living in Ifni - the Ait Banarene tribe - who had been provoked by the delay in settling Morocco's claim to Ifni.

Matters had taken a more serious turn when the Spaniards bombed undisputed Moroccan territory, and he has ordered anti-aircraft batteries to fire on the Spanish aircraft in that region.

There were two interpretations of the 1860 treaty under which Ifni had been ceded to Spain. Morocco has agreed to submit the ones to the International Court of Justice and to accept its arbitration.
