Background: Hungary's Prime Ministers, Gyoergy Lazar, visited Italy this week for two days of talks with his Italian counterpart, Signor Aldo Moro.
It's the first time a Hungarian Prime Minister has visited Italy since the war. Italy used to be Hungary's biggest trading partner in the west but has slipped to third place behind West Germany and France in recent years. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Hungarian Foreign Trade Minister, Biro Josef Ozsef, whose presence would seem to indicate that the Hungarians are hoping to expand foreign trade with Italy.
A joint communique issued at the end of the discussions said the delegations had talked about the United Nations, the Helsinki European Security Conference, the Vienna Force Reduction Talks, the Middle East, Cyprus and bilateral relations and co-operation.
Mr. Lazar is also to include a visit to pope Paul in the Vatican before returning home on Friday ( 15 November).
