Background: Frederick Engels, one of the founders of Marxism, was born 150 years ago. To mark the occasion, Russian scientists have organised a display at the Karl Marx and Frederick Engels Museum in Moscow.
The exhibition was opened by Mstislav Keldysh, President of the Academy of Scientists of the U.S.S.R. During the exhibition of photographs and books by Engels, talks on his writing and thinking were given by scholars.
Lecturers talked about the great role of Engels in the struggle for the creation of a revolutionary part of the working class. Not only was he a great revolutionary and scientist, said some speakers, but he was also important for the solution to many Russian problems.
Among items at the exhibition are books by Engels, some of his personal possession, documents and photographs of him and other leading Russians. A special section of the exhibition is devoted to his wide connections with the working class and socialist parties all over the world.
