Background: Very short skirts and shorts were rare among the designs introduced this Easter at the start of the Italian High Fashion designers' ready-to-wear collections for next autumn and winter in Florence.

The trend was reported to be back to the classic suit, to a revival of trousers, and to the rather masculine "women's liberation look".

Visnews Rome cameraman Pino Giambattista filmed the designs of the Fontana Sisters, and of Tita Rossi, Barocco, Carosa and Capucci in the sumptuous Florentine Palazzo Pitti, built by the Renaissance Medici Princes.

SYNOPSIS: Italian High Fashion designers were showing their designs for next autumn and winter this Easter at the Palazzo Pitti in Florence, and the trend is reported to be away from short skirts and shorts, and back to classic suits, to rousers, and to a rather masculine "women's liberation look". These models are showing the latest from the Fontana sisters, whose line is slender, with bustline unaccentuated and waists belted.

Evenings become more romantic and flowing with dresses of soft and light fabrics enveloping the figure.

Tita Rossi favours a straight look with small, opened collars and natural waistlines which are always belted. Her skirt lengths are below the knee.

Barocco favoured the return to classic coasts and suits, in rich colours of brown, green and red.

There were also floral decorated jackets worn with flared dresses.

Carosa used full-bodied colours like blue, rust and orange, and in capes coupled blue with rest and black, and black with orange.

Lastly, Roberto Capucci. He also favours the colours of nature in autumn, and his style is graceful and flowing, even in his shirt-dresses, which contrast different materials. And in his lightweight full-length evening dresses, he features many variations in georgette, chiffon and lace.
