"South Africa has always been in favour of a solution that would attract the widest measure of International recognition".
TRANSCRIPT: "We are not interfering with the proposals with the substance of the solution it's for the people, naturally we desire a peaceful settlement, naturally we would like to see a comprehensive peaceful solution there, but it's not for South Africa to tell the leaders".
"We had a full discussion of the Namibian question, we pointed out the importance which we addressed to the resolution of this problem and to the finding of an International solution of the problem. We also stressed the fact that we believe that we must not only initiate the action but follow through to make sure that it has a successful conclusion".
"The South African government does want an Internationally acceptable solution if its possible for both Namibia and for Rhodesia, I believe this is extremely important and I think that it's in the interest of everybody in Southern Africa. The problem we face now over Rhodesia is that we have made some progress but that we have still got a situation in which there is now in conflict, we have got a situation in which two of the Nationalist leaders are not involved outside and the armed conflict is continuing and we feel that it's an extremely important responsibility for us".
