Background: A delegation of the Federation of Cuban Women, left Brazzaville on Wednesday (4 February) at the end of an official two-week visit to the People's Republic of Congo.
They were invited to make the visit by the Revolutionary Union of Congolese Women.
The delegation was received by President Marien Ngouabi who only recently appointed a youthful new team to inject greater energy and drive into the revolutionary development of his Marxist-oriented nation in central Africa.
A joint communique issued at the end of the visit stated that both the Cuban and Congolese women condemned South Africa for interference in Angola and expressed support for the women of MPLA, the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola.
The communique stated that both the Federation of Cuban Women and the Revolutionary Union of Congolese Women should give material and moral support to their MPLA counterparts.
