The funeral procession of His Holiness late Chiniya Lama, the head Lama of Bodhnath, took place at 21st July, 1982.
Usually the Buddhist use to burried the dead body on the top of a hill but the body of Chiniya Lama was consigned to flames. May be this is the Correlation with Hindu tradition.
He died of Cardiac arrest on 18th July but the time his cremation was decided by the Buddhish Lamas according to their tradition. His dead body was kept till the suspicious date of July 21st.
The grandfather of Chiniya Lama came from Tibbet and settled in Helembu, North of Kathmandu and Kathmandu city itself.
Kathmandu 21st July, Thousand and thousands Nepalese people paid their homage to the former Prime minister Mr. B.P. Koirala who died yesterday at his residence at the age of 68. As soon as the news of his death was spread many people went his residence and paid their homage. His body laid on a cushion of flowers and garlands on an open truck was taken to Aryaghat in a procession. The funeral procession passed through the main thoroughfare of the city indluew the Old Hanuman Dhoka Palace of the founder of Nepal. His late Majesty King Prithivi Narayan Shab. His relatives and the leader of Indian Janata Party were by the side of the body on the truck. After the procession the mortal remains of Mr. Koirala was consigned to flames at Aryaghat in the bank of Bagmati and the holy temple of Pashupati Nath according to the Hinddu tradition and rituals.
