Nowadays Head of the National Liberal Party in Lebanon, M. Chamoun intends to remain in the political field, and keeps in the public eye by weekly visits to different villages.
The visit to Khahaleh is the result of an invitation from his personal bodyguard for 25 years, Emill whose home village it is. During the conflict between the town and mountainous areas of Lebanon in 1958, Khahaleh was in the front line.
The President, as full of vigour as ever, still retains much of his popularity with the masses.
