Background: Mr. Robert McNamara, the President of the World Bank flew in to Libreville, Gabon, on 17th January, to discuss the country's financial problems with President Albert Bernard Bongo. The meeting was at he presidential palace in Libreville.
Mr. McNamara has been paying a series of visits to equatorial Africa. He had already visited the plantations of the Cameroun Development Corporation and called on President Ahmadou Ahidjo of the Camerouns before flying to Gabon.
