    Background: A Cultural and Cooperative Agreement was signed yesterday (Saturday) in Amman, between the Jordanian Government (represented by Minister of Culture and Information Adnan Abu Odeh) and the U.S.S.R. (represented by Ambassador Anatoly Anisimof).

    The Agreement, which is a continuance of an original treaty signed between the two countries in 1967, allows for exchanges in the fields of Education, culture, Arts, Sport and Public Health--including the provision of 30 annual scholarships for Jordanian students to Russian Technical Universities.

    SYNOPSIS: In the Jordanian capital of Amman a cultural delegation from the Soviet Union is seen arriving at the Ministry of Culture and Information on Saturday, April 24th. To greet them, Minister of Culture and Information Adnan Abu Odeh, who represented Jordan at the signing of a Cultural and Cooperative Agreement with the U.S.S.R., represented by Ambassador Anatoly Anisimof.

    The agreement, which is a continuance of an original treaty signed between the two countries in 1967, allows for exchanges in the fields of Education, Culture, Arts, Sport and Public health--including the provision of thirty annual scholarships for Jordanian students to Russian Technical Universities.

    Observers from the Ministry of Information joined members of the Russian Diplomatic Corps during the signing of the Agreement. Later they heard addresses from both Minister Adnan Abu Odeh and Ambassador Anisimof, who both stressed the importance of such an exchange between their two countries.
