REV. MARTIN LUTHER KING SR.: "I was awfully weak yesterday but Glory to God I'm strong today. I'm not going to quit. I'm not going to let nothing stop me. I am tired. Maybe he's going to come back and make his plan true or somebody like him -- say he came after me last Sunday also. Let him come on back. Let him come on back. He can't do a thing but kill this old broken body. It's in my heart and it's in my soul and I really believe -- we shall overcome."

A transcript of the commentary on film by reporter Lew Davis is included overleaf.

Background: Mrs. Alberta King, the murdered mother of the late Rev. Martin Luther King was called the "most peaceful warrior of the 20th century" at her funeral service in Atlanta Georgia on Wednesday (3 July).

This was the tribute paid by the Rev. Ralph Abernathy who took over the Southern Christian Leadership Conference after the assassination of Rev. Martin Luther King in 1968.

Mrs. King was shot down on Sunday (30 June) as she played the organ at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. A 69 year old church deacon Edward Boykin was also killed in the shooting.

A 23 year old back college student, Marcus Wayne Chenault, is under arrest for the shootings. A list of other black civil rights leaders was found in his flat.

The funeral service, at the church and the graveside, was conducted by the Rev. Martin Luther King Senior.

He told a 600 strong congregation which included the Vice President's wife, Mrs. Gerald Ford, the assassin or anyone else could come back for him.

"He can't do anything but kill this broken old body", said the 74 year old Minister.

Mr. Luther King said: "It's in my heart and in my soul -- we shall overcome."
