    DALAT IS ABOUT 150 MILES NORTH-EAST OF SAIGON.

    FOUR HUNDRED JAPANESE ENGINEERS AND SOME 4,000 VIETNAMESE TECHNICIANS WORKED ROUND THE CLOCK ON THE GIANT DAM SINCE APRIL 1961.

    MR. NGUYEN NGOC THO, PRIME MINISTER OF SOUTH VIETNAM, PERFORMED THE OPENING CEREMONY. ALSO PRESENT WAS MAJOR GENERAL DUONG VAN MINH, CHAIRMAN OF THE MILITARY REVOLUTIONARY COUNCIL AND A GALAXY OF DIGNITARIES.

    TO ROUND OFF THE CEREMONY, MAJOR GENERAL DUONG VAN MINH AWARDED NATIONAL ORDER MEDALS TO SOME JAPANESE ENGINEERS AND VIETNAMESE TECHNICAL WHO WORKED ON THE PROJECT.
