Background: As the anniversary of the Yom Kippur War nears the atmosphere on the Golan Heights seems quite different from what it was today a year ago. Whilst once again soldiers sit around and chat, play football or eat grapes as if a war could not possibly break out tomorrow, there are others, keeping a careful watch in the direction of the demilitarised UNDOF zone, where Syria was reported recently to have stationed soldiers in civilian cloths, right under the nose of the UN force and where only a few more miles to the back they are said to have introduced artillery, country to the disengagement agreement with Israel. Once again Israel does not want to get caught with its pants down and Israel could ill-afford losses, as those she suffered during the first few days of the October war. Tanks are moved along the roads of the heights, soldiers are filling sandbags, to protect their position and the war memorial on the wide of the road seems an unnecessary reminder to Israelis of what happened last year on the day of Atonement. Once more this holiest of holy Neasts of Jewish religion is ushered in tonight (Wednesday), once again Israelis, not those in the outposts along the border, but those in all of Israel, will go to offer their prayers and start the fast as the sun will set; there will be no prayer as loud i Israel as the prayer for peace - but Israelis soldiers will be ready if ever the Arabs will want to start another war - even on this day of Atonement
