    Background: President Jaafar El Nimeiry of Sudan, arrived in Rabat, Morocco, on Friday (31 August) for a 48-hour visit. The President was met at the airport by King Hassan II, leading a delegation of political and diplomatic officials.

    President Nimeiry was on a three-week African tour, in preparation for the conference of non-aligned nations, in Algiers. He began his tour in Gabon on 14 August. A full week of the journey was spent in Nigeria, where President Nimeiry had wide ranging discussions with General Yakuhu Gowen. Other countries on his schedule included Guinea, Ivory Coast and Cameroon.

    At a news conference in Lagos, before he left Nigeria, President Nimeiry came out strongly against all political parties. He said he would never permit the creation of any party in Sudan.

    The President also announced that the trial of Palestinian guerrillas charged with the murder of two Western diplomats in Khartoum would begin on 25 September. He said the guerrillas' actions were an infringement of Sudanese laws, and thus were subject to penalty.

    SYNOPSIS: At Rabat Airport, in Morocco, all was in readiness on Friday for the arrival of President Jaafar El Nimeiry of Sudan. There to meet the President was a group of Mexican political an diplomatic officers, led by King Hassan, the Second.

    The President was to stay in Morocco forty-eight hours, during which wide-ranging discussions were scheduled.

    President Nimeiry left Sudan on 14 August on a three-week tour of Afr??? in preparation for the conference of non-aligned nations, new under way in Algiers. He is due to return home on 8 September. A full week of the tour was spent in Nigeria, where he had lengthy discussions with General Yakubu Gowon.

    On the tour, the President has strong attacked the Party system of Government He told a news conference in Lagos, before leaving Nigeria, he would never permit the creation of any political party in Sudan.

    The talks in Morocco were exported to include the Middle East situation, on which President Niemeiry has called for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Israel from occupied territories. He implied that oil sanctions on countries sympathetic to Israel was not a weapon to be ruled out.
