    TODAY WAS THE SECOND OF MR SHASTRI'S OFFICIAL FOUR-DAY VISIT TO LONDON. HIS MEETING WITH EARL MOUNTBATTEN RECALLED OLD TIMES WHEN THE EARL; WAS THE LAST VICEROY OF INDIA (CHIEF BRITISH REPRESENTATIVE) AND THE COUNTRY'S FIRST GOVERNOR-GENERAL AFTER INDEPENDENCE.

    MR WILSON, THE BRITISH PRIME MINISTER, TOOK TIME OFF FROM THE LAST-MINUTE PREPARATIONS FOR SUNDAY'S WASHINGTON VISIT TO ATTEND THE RECEPTION AT INDIA HOUSE. ALSO THERE WAS LORD ATTLEE, THE FORMER LABOUR PRIME MINISTER ATTENDED THE RECEPTION AT NUMBER TEN DOWNING STREET, MR WILSON'S OFFICIAL RESIDENCE. IT WAS ANNOUNCED VISIT TO ATTEND THE RECEPTION AT INDIA HOUSE. ALSO THERE WAS LORD ATTLEE, THE FORMER LABOUR PRIME MINISTER, WHOSE ADMINISTRATION GRANTED INDIA ITS INDEPENDENCE.

    SENIOR MINISTERS ATTENDED THE RECEPTION AT NUMBER THEN DOWNING STREET, MR WILSON'S OFFICIAL RESIDENCE. IT WAS ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT MRS CASTLE HAS ACCEPTED AN INVITATION TO VISIT INDIA EARLY NEXT YEAR. A SIMILAR INVITATION IS REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN MADE TO MR WILSON, WHO IS EXPECTED TO ANNOUNCE HIS ACCEPTANCE BEFORE MR SHASTRI COMPLETES HIS VISIT ON SUNDAY.
