Background: Britain will be showing more motor vehicles and accessories than any other country competing for the important West German market at the Frankfurt motor show which opens tomorrow (Thursday).

This was announced by Sir George Harriman, president of the Society of Motor manufacturers and Traders and chairman of British Motor Holding Ltd., in a pre-show statement in Frankfurt.

Sir George said that despite West German's recession British car shipments to West Germany had nearly doubled in the first half of 1967, compared with the January to June period of 1966.

But for the export-conscious British there will be strong competition from various continental manufacturers. One firm which representatives of the British motor industry will be watching with close interest is Adam Opel, Germany's second largest car manufacturer. For as the show opens the first Opels equipped with right hand drive will be gong on sale in Britain.

This is Frankfurt's 43rd International Car Fair.
