    Background: On October 12th, President Chou En-lai received and had a friendly talk with the Trade Delegation of the Government of Ceylon led by M. V. P. Peiris, Minister of Commerce and Trade.

    On the same day, a protocol relating to the exchange of commodities between China and Ceylon during the year 1965 was signed in Peking.

    Chinese Vice-Premier Li Hsien attended the signing ceremony.

    The protocol signed on behalf of the Chinese Government by Lin Hai-yun, Acting Minister of Foreign Trade, and, on behalf of the Ceylon Government by ??? Peiris, Minister of Commerce and Trade.
