Background: In the American state off Arizona, a church designed to keep pace with modern living....a drive-in.
This film, from the National Broadcasting Company, shows the church, in Scotsdale, Arizona, and a service in progress.
SYNOPSIS: This is the latest thing in drive-ins. It's not a restaurant or a cinema, but a drive-in church. It's in Scotsdale, in the American state of Arizona and it has been built with modern living in mind.
According to the pastor, the drive in concept came about for many reasons. Not the least that it is easier for people who are elderly on invalid and who find walking difficult. They can attend the service while sitting in their car.
Some people find the outdoor setting better for worship. The pastor also says his Church's architecture is a sermon: the garden area inside shows the majesty of God's creation. A flowing fountain is the baptismal font. The sanctuary cross is made of bristlecone pine, said to be the oldest know living thing and the back wall, of lava stone, shows the power of God.
The pastor says it is a church that realistically recognises a society of mobility and keeps pace with modern living.
