Background: GIBRALTAR December 4th: After the Rhodesia crisis talks aboard HMS Tiger had ended the British Ministry of Defence released a second film taken aboard the British cruiser. It was at these discussions that what Mr. Wilson has described as a "working document" was drawn up and about which a decision will be made by 10 am (GMT) tomorrow, December 5.
Aboard Tiger the talks had gone on all yesterday but Mr. Wilson and his advisers found time for a break on deck. The talks had lasted until midnight on Friday, were re-started seven hours later, and went on until Tiger put back into Gibraltar late last night. It was assumed the talks were over but then came news that the two sides had started talking again. Mr. Ian Smith left for home first. Mr. Wilson stayed the night aboard and arrived back in London this morning.
The film shows the British Prime Minister, Mr. Harold Wilson, on deck with the Commonwealth Secretary, Mr. Herbert Bowden, the Attorney-General, Sir Elwyn Jones. Also seen in the film are Sir Hugh Beadle, Chief Justice of Rhodesia, Mr. Ian Smith, and Admiral Pollock of the British Royal Navy.
