Background: American soldiers are tackling one of war's most difficult and dangerous tasks in the Phnom Penh area of Cambodia - destroying old and unsafe ammunition. Cambodian troops don't have enough training for this and Cambodian asked for U.S. help.
Recently an American bomb disposal expert was killed at Phnom Penh's Pochentong airport when the Russian-built shell he was handling exploded. American Embassy officials said he was unloading the 4.5 inch missile when the fuse exploded. He was a member of a squad sent to the airport to clear up after the devastating raid on January 22nd by Vietcong infiltrators. They blew up 10 aircraft and four helicopters, killing 13 soldiers and wounding many.
