Background: U.S. Admiral Carl Brown Commander of NATO's South European Forces during a colourful ceremony at the National Stadium became Honorary Citizen of the City of Rhodes. He was also awarded with the Golden Medal of the City, an honour that only King Paul of Greece and Marshal Tito hold until now. More than 2000 people cheered Admiral Brown when he appeared wearing a rich Evzone uniform and surrounded by a group of young Rhodian boys and girls in their local uniforms. The ceremony was preceded by an exhibition of the famous South European NATO band.
