SYNOPSIS: In the Netherlands, an important new radar station was opened at Herwynen on Wednesday. Dutch Secretary of State for Transport, Mr. Keyzer, was there to see the station start official operations.
The station will ultimately form part of the new Eurocontrol system, which is currently under construction. When complete, the system will provide high altitude aircraft control over Western Europe. Television links will connect the new station to the central control system. Other stations constructed at Brussels and Bremen will be similarly connected. The entire system, bringing safe flight control to Europe's crowded airways, is scheduled to become operational during the next month.
