The story of the Rhondda Vallet over the last 100 years cannot fail to stir the imagination. From a peaceful rural area of a populations of not more than 1000 souls, it grew in 70 years to 176,000 people, and the magnate was coal, the very best coal to be found anywhere in the world, and the wealth which the coal mined here represents added enormously to our National prosperity."
SCU...."And now with the improvement in the conditions of the mines and with the introduction of other Industries, Rhondda can look forward with confidence to an age of less violent fluctuations and we all hope to an age of peaceful Industry and steady employment.
