Background: Argentine President Maria Estela Person summoned ministers to her hospital suite on Thursday (13 November) for the first full cabinet meeting since she was taken ill 11 days earlier.
The eight Ministers had been asking to see her for a week, but only her personal advisers had been allowed in her hospital room.
On the day of the cabinet meeting, Interior Minister Mr. Angel Robledo denied newspaper reports that he and his seven colleagues had agreed that the President should either resign, or take a prolonged leave of absence.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Nicasio Sanchez Toranzo, said Mrs. Person would leave the hospital after she held the cabinet meeting, and would return to her suburban residence.
But when the meeting ended, a senior government official told reporters that the President would not leave the hospital that day, although she was in excellent shape.
One week earlier, she tried to stem the rising tide of calls for her resignation by making a nationwide television speech from her hospital bed.
Her appearance lasted only four minutes, after starting more than two hours late, without explanation.
She told the nation there was no reason for her to resign and she had not intention of asking for leave of absence.
The President is facing a natational scandal over alleged misuse of public funds during her 16-month rule.
