Chrissy had said she expected to lose sand though the stadium was packed with Evert supporters, Mrs. King gained the upper hand half way through the first set. young Miss Evert did not have the serve or the overhand to stay with Mrs. King and she lost the second set and the match on her own serve, but she never lost her poise. The final score was 6-3, 6-2, for Chrissy, no tears, a hand shake and that was it."

    Background: Mrs. Billie-jean King decisively beat Chrissie Evert, the 16-year-old girl wonder from Florida, 6-3, 6-2, in 50 minutes in the semi-final of the United States Open Tennis championship at Forest Hills, New York on Friday (10 September).

    Mrs. King looked like a winner from the very start of the match; her experience gave her time to play every shot with ease, and towards the end of the match she had here younger opponent running all over the court to reach well placed shots.

    SYNOPSIS: Miss Chrissie Evert, the 16-year-old girl wonder from Florida met Mrs. Billie-jean King in the semi-final of the United States Open Tennis Championship at Forest Hills, New York on Friday. Miss Evert had said earlier he expected to lose this match, but the stadium was packed with her supporters. Mrs. King gained the upper hand in the first set.

    Young Miss Evert did not have the serve or the overhead experience to beat former Wimbledon champion Mrs. King. She lost the second set and the match on here own serve....but she never lost her poise. The final score was 6-3, 6-2. For Miss Evert there were no tears, just a handshake and that was it.
