THEIR FLIGHT, REFERRED TO SERVICEMEN AS THE "STORK SPECIAL", WAS IN AN R.A.F. TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT CONVERTED INTO A FLYING MATERNITY WARD, STAFFED BY NURSES AND A SENIOR GYNAECOLOGIST. THE AIRCRAFT WAS EQUIPPED TO CARE FOR NEWLY-BORN BABIES, THEIR MOTHERS, AND WOMEN IN ADVANCED STAGES OF PREGNANCY. AS THEY EMBARKED THE WOMEN WERE PRESENTED WITH A FLOWER, AND ANY CHILDREN ACCOMPANYING THEM RECEIVED A BAG OF SWEETS. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT BRIZE NORTON IN OXFORDSHIRE WITHOUT INCIDENT.
